Final Products

Below you will be able to see my finished front cover. I have made all the changes I have been asked to do and have come very far from constructing my preliminary task. My title is a lot more eye catching than it used to be this should attract my audience as they like bright/colourful titles on magazines.

This next image is my final contents page; I also have come a long way in creating this. When you look at my preliminary task you can see that I have not thought about the layout of my images and text, it does not work together properly. Also when you look at my sketch of my contents page it is different from the final product, once again I did not completely think about the layout and have just put the text and images anywhere. However at the time I thought that this was good although while constructing the final product I realized that I would have to change it around in order to get the best results.

This image is of my final double page spread. I have worked hard in constructing this piece of work and have changed it around a lot. The first sketch of my double page spread is completely different to my final piece of work. My pictures were placed all over the page with the writing fitted around it while my final work only have the main image which I changed to fit one whole page and the writing is on the other page.

Below is now my finished front cover preliminary product.

Here is my finished contents page preliminary task.

Audience Feedback Conclusions

All of these were open questions therefore I will know exactly what each person thinks of my magazine.

Question 1
What do you think about the title of my magazine? Do you think it is good for the pop genre?
Basically everyone said that my title ‘Louder’ is good and it fits the genre well. One person said that it is catchy, another said that when you read it you instantly think of music and another said that it is cleaver as it fits it’s in with my slogan ‘Turn it up Louder’ this then makes people think of turning their music up louder. This tells me that people like my magazine title therefore if anyone would say the word louder they would think of my magazine.

Question 2
Is the price for my magazine reasonable? Can you find it easily?
Two people have said that the price is ok however everyone else has said that my price for the magazine is a good price and one person even said that most pop magazines are around this price therefore it is fair to charge this much as well. They can all find it easily as it is a decent size at the bottom of the page with the bar code. This then tells me that I should keep my price the same as most people would happily pay £2.99 for my magazine.

Question 3
Since my magazines is for the pop genre do you think that it demonstrations this well?
Nine people I asked said that my magazine demonstrates being a pop genre magazine well, one other said sort of. This therefore mean that they don’t fully think that it relates to this genre, I asked her the person why and they told me that is was quite bright and fun however in pop magazines there are usually more pictures. I did not include pictures because there was not enough room without it looking cramped, they understood and proceeded to tell me that it does fit the genre I have chosen.

Question 4
My target audience is 13-16. Do you think this is appropriate?
Everyone I asked said that they think 13-16 is a good age for the pop genre magazine. People also added; it is bright and funny, some people up to 19 like pop magazines too and they might buy it. Other people can buy my magazine too if they want to however this is just the age group I am targeting it at as I know more people this age will be willing to spend money on the magazine.

Question 5
Do you think people at this age will be interested in buying my magazine? What do you think would grab their attention?
Every person on my questionnaire said that they would be interested in buying my magazine. Then then said what would grab their attention which is as follows; people mainly said the bright colours because it grabs people’s attention, the image is good and stands out because it is the only image on the page, the writing is bold which stands out, good bands, good stories and my title is big and bold.  These conclusions tell me that I have really grabbed the audience’s attention with the bright colours and bold title; this is good as my magazine will sell more.

Question 6
Do you think the cover stories on my front cover will persuade my target audience to read my magazine? Why?
Everyone has said my target audience will read my magazine due to the cover stories. They said this because they think they are interesting, it rhymes so it sounds good, the bands are good, it sounds catchy and there was not too much writing which sometimes puts people off. Due to this I know that my target audience will hopefully like the cover stories I have chosen as I have tried to be careful in choosing to right (popular) bands who everyone likes.

Question 7
What do you think about the use of colour on my front cover?
Nine people have said that my magazine is bright and will therefore grab people’s attention as they couldn’t miss it. Someone else said that the colours work well together because they match and they think that it looks good. In conclusion I know that my audience likes the colours I have used and they think that it will get people’s attention which will make them want to pick up my magazine read the front cover then buy it.

Question 8
What do you think about my chosen pictures on my contents page? Do they interest you?
The people I asked said that the pictures of my contents page interest them. They said that they are good pictures which are big and clear, they are very music related and they look interesting which makes them want to read about what they are doing and where they are. This will then make them want to buy the magazine. One person said that it will attract girls this is due to the bigger image of Tom from McFly; he is holding a guitar and singing. It is obviously appealing to my audience which is good as they will be the ones who are reading the magazine.

Question 9
On my contents page what do you think about the layout?
These are some of the responses I got about my layout; it is neat and organised, the images are attractive, the writing is clear, it’s easy and quick to understand, lots of writing however some good big pictures were used as well, I like the pictures on one side as they take up most of the space and looks like less writing due to this. I now know that my audience likes more images than writing, I can now do this on future magazines so my audience will keep buying the magazine.

Question 10
Is my article about The Wanted easy to read and would you want to read this? Why?
These people have said that my article is easy to read and they would want to read this, mainly because they like this band however I did get more answers as to why they would read this article. They said it looks easy to read, there is a big picture which takes up a whole page and some of the writing is colourful which attracts them. It is good to know that the audience likes the picture and the writing on separate sides, this will help me in making other magazines similar to this in the future as I know why what they like.

Question 11
What do you think of the layout for my double page spread?
It is easy to read, it’s colourful, it is detailed however in a fun way, I like the big image and the whole layout is good. This tells me that my audience likes the layout of this page, they like the colours, the picture (again) and they like that there is lots of information about The Wanted however it does not look like too much because the picture is on the other side of the page.

Question 12
Would you buy my magazine? Why?
I have found out during this audience feedback that everyone I asked would buy this magazine due to many different reasons; it’s appealing, good price, interesting, they like it, bright colours, good stories, they like pop gossip and it is everything that would want from a pop magazine. I know from constructing this questionnaire that my magazine would sell well and that it reaches to my target audience good.

Photographs For Double Page Spread

In this lesson I had to chose which pictures I was going to use for my double page spread. Below is the picture I chose to put onto my double page spread, the other pictures are the ones I was going to use however did not end up using them.

This image is the only image I used on my double page spread. There was not enough room for another picture because I used this picture to cover a whole page so that the writing was on the other page. This worked well.

These pictures are the ones I did not end up using.

Photographs For Contents Page

Below are all the pictures I have used on my contents page. I had to pick which pictures I wanted to use in my contents page, I have also stated why I have chosen these pictures.

First, is the picture of a person doing a Loser sign with their hands. This picture relates to the Glee series as this is their signature hand gesture. Everyone knows it means Loser and will immediately relate it to Glee.

Second, is another picture of the same girl on my front cover, usually in magazines the person/people on the front cover have a different image on the contents page. I have chosen this image of her because I like it and it fits in the space on my contents page quite well.

Third, is a picture of The Saturdays at one of their concerts. I have chosen this picture because it fits into the space on my contents page very well and I like that they are sort of in the middle of dancing.

Last, is a picture of Tom from McFly at one of their concerts. I have chosen this picture because I like his face expression and I think it is a good picture. I made this the biggest picture on my contents page because out of all my pictures it is the best one.

Photographs For Front Cover

(Below are all the pictures I have used on my front cover. I have also stated why I have chosen these pictures)

I have chosen this picture as my main photo because I like that you can see her face up close and her top is bright and eye-catching. This is the only picture I have used on my front cover because I think that other pictures will draw attention away from the main image.

Below are the pictures I took however decided to bot use on my front cover.

Production Of Double Page Spread

Here is a sketch of my double page spread. this will help me to decide4 what I will put into my final double page spread.

(Below are step by step screenshots of how I made my double page spread. I created this throughout multiple lessons. I will then hand a copy of it into my teacher so she can look at it to see how I can improve)

Unfortunately I had to cut some of the questions I asked in the interview off due to not having enough space. I also had to delete the picture of the person I interviewed. However all the questions I asked are below in the actual interview with the fan. Clearly you can see that the questions I asked are magenta and the answer I got are blue; this is so the audience can see which are the questions and which are the answers.

As you can see from the screenshot below I have changed a lot of my double page spread around. I have done this as it looks better also not all my interview questions would fit on therefore I added another page so the audience will be able to read all the questions. As you will also be able to see I have put in another picture of The Wanted (Max, Tom and Nathan). I think this is a good picture and the audience will like it which is why I added it in.

From the screenshot below you can see that I have changed my double page spread quite a lot, I have gona from 3 pages back to just 2 pages. I have gone back to the original picture I used becuase I had to move this onto a whole page. I made the image as big as the page so it really jumps out to the audience. Since my picture is on one side of the page my writing is now all on one side of the page. My title is over the picture as is my sub-headding. I have created a dropcap in order for the audience to know where the article starts. Think the layout is good and will be easy fo the audience to read/look at.
